And miles to go before I eat.....

32nd Milestone reminds of the good old days, my college days when we used to bunk classes
and disappear with our girl friends to the most known disco “Fireball.” There were times
when we fought over 'my gal going with other guy to the disco.' The young generation of
that time knew the 32nd Milestone very well. Days and years passed by, we grew up and the
disco slowly left our memories, but each time I crossed the national highway 8 going to
Jaipur I would slow down near the 32nd Milestone recalling my younger days and the fun we
had. With the passage of time things have changed, and I would say for better. 32nd Milestone
stands its ground as good as it used to in those days, except that it wears a new look. In
addition to the fun games that existed earlier, it has now turned to fine dining. Mamma Mia,
the Italian-European restaurant has become the new attraction. There is a nice sit out area
next to the glass paneled restaurant.![]() Neatly set up wicker chairs and tables invite you in the cool evening breeze, at least in this perfect weather when it neither too cold nor warm. The traffic on the highway beyond the lawn disturbs little as the grass lawn has been raised up like a sound barrier. I could see young couples enjoy the evening, sipping beer and trying the Italian cuisine. Though there is this Indian specialty restaurant too next to the Italian, I opted for the latter looking for some nice continental preparation. The chef suggested trying some prawns on a platter of spaghetti, well I am not too particular about names, neither a literate as far as Italian is concerned, but my tongue does differentiate between tastes good or excellent. Juicy, as I expected, the prawns turned out to be of my liking, well done, less oily and garnished with oregano seasoning. The aroma increased my appetite. There were pizzas too, but I am not the one who would fall for a pizza. I have my own likings in Italian cuisine. A fussily Bolognese with lamb which, if rightly done with original seasonings gives an out-of-the-world taste. All this went together well with a lager beer. Since Mamma Mia is known for its bakery products, I chose to close my dinner with a Tiramisu pastry. A Mamma Mia warm apple tart with cinnamon ice cream is also recommended at the Italian outlet. Those who wish to have Indian, can have their choicest spicy foods in the Indian Restaurant. The 32nd Milestone offers tastes for all tongues. |
