Dominican President in India to promote trade




The President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández accompanied by his Ministerial colleagues and heading a business delegation to India addressed meetings of Indian businessmen to promote his country as a investment destination in Mumbai and Delhi.

In Mumbai he also met film producers to inform the opportunities and facilities that the Dominican Republic offers as a filming location for the international film industry. Addressing Indian businessmen President Fernandez spoke about the business opportunities that the Dominican Republic offers to foreign investors, as well as all the advantages offered by the signing and enforcement of the Treaty of Free Commerce signed in 2004 with Central America and the United States of America (DR-CAFTA). President Fernández also visited the offices of the TATA group and met executives of the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIMBANK), technicians and businessmen, with whom he analyzed the financial possibilities in various productive areas in the Dominican Republic and announced that withinthe next few days a commission of Indian businessmen and technicians will visit the Dominican Republic.

In Bangalore he addressed the summit of the Federation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and visited the offices of the Indian Institute of Management.

The President also met members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Delhi where he also had a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence.
