Laxmi Vilas
Situated in a small but historic town of Bharatpur, known as the impregnable fort, Laxmi Vilas Palace was built in 1887 for Raja Raghunath Singh, the younger brother of the then ruler of Bharatpur, Maharaja Ram Singh.

Bharatpur is an old historic town of Jat Dynasty from 1690 onwards. Under their able leadership the territory of Bharatpur expanded far beyond the original boundaries of the town of Bharatpur and the Jats became a power to be reckoned with in this region.

For almost a hundred years Bharatpur also witnessed the entertainment and hospitality to famous dignitaries with elaborate feasts and festivities such as Royal Weddings, Duck shoots, affairs of the Court, some even lasting for days.

Set amidst the sprawling 50 acres, and surrounded by undulating, yellow mustard fields, the Laxmi Vilas Palace is an eclectic and lively fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture, the palace was earlier called Raghunath Niwas though locals always preferred to call it ‘Kakaji ki kothi.’

In 1994 our family home was converted into a hotel. Here at Laxmi Vilas Palace you may relive the history of Bharatpur, feel the warm hospitality extended to you by our present generation living in the Palace.
