The Lalit
It rises above all imposingly in the centre of the city. The Lalit – it has the distinct advantage of being connected well with almost everything that a traveler may be looking for. Be it the historic Red Fort or the country’s Parliament House – everything reachable within a few minutes.

The structure in stone tiles looks like a skyscraper going up the sky, different from many other buildings that house offices in the area close by. The moment one enters the lobby, one gets the feeling of space. The lobby goes up high several metres. Yes, there is the feeling of “I can breathe easily.” Hotels usually are shy of a this big a lobby which makes one feel as comfortable as under the sky – no hindrances, no limitations.

Its not the height alone, the lobby also spreads out into a spacious 24 /7, a restaurant and bar on one hand and to the banquets on the other. A wide reception area again gives a feel of more space. The well lit lobby of The Lalit never makes you feel congested even when there are a hundred guests there at any point of time.

A guest can easily stroll into the 24/7 restaurant for a buffet breakfast or meal from the lobby from which it not distinctly separated. The spacious 24/7 is well lit and offers multi cuisine specialties all times of the day. You could even order something from the oven that is built right across one of the counters and see your dish being baked all fresh. Salads including cold meats, cheese, olives or anything you are looking for from the continental basket to the Indian dishes. The breakfast is a spread fit for a king and so are the choices.

For those who wish to enjoy there drinks, the bar offers all choices in a cool atmosphere, where you could just discuss your business deals or simply have an evening drink with friends. The atmosphere in blue lights in the bar is soothing and lets you have your privacy. There is a wine cellar, all transparent and made of glass, from where you could choose your favourite. And when you are enjoying your drink, youngsters could have fun at the pastry shop next doors.

For fine dining, The Lalit has three specialty restaurants. All those who have taste buds for spicy Indian cuisine can go up to the Baluchi, which in traditional Indian atmosphere, serves the tandoori favourites. This is a favourite with families who land up for north Indian food.

For those who are looking for something different, The Grill on the roof top is the appropriate place to be in. Contemporary cuisine is what they term it. Lovers of continental cuisine can enjoy their favourites here.

Right across the floor facing The Grill is the WOKS, a place for Chinese and other East Asian flavours amidst live music. The décor of WOKS measures up to a superb east Asian eating place.

Of the uttermost importance for the guest are the rooms, almost all renovated in new décor which has leather tiles lined up around the working table and, of course, the plasma television cannot be missed which comes with a DVD player. The bathrooms are partitioned with glass making them a part of the bed room. With the roll blinds pulled up, bathroom becomes almost a window to the bed room, so one could still enjoy the TV program from the shower cubicle or taking a dip in the tub. Everything you need to have before a good night’s sleep on a real thick mattress.

More space for those who like to live life king size – the suites, which are based on different themes. Imagine a suite which has all its furniture in exquisitely carved walnut wood. From mirror frames to wooden screens to the dining furniture, everything finely carved by master craftsmen.

And though The Lalit is advantageously located in the city centre, there are no disturbing noises from outside. Of course one could see the flickering lights of the city around at night.

The Lalit has an open air terrace pool for that cool splash when the body and the soul are stressed. For those particular about their body shapes is the gym next to the spa which gives various natural therapies.

Not to be forgotten is a coffee lounge on the same level, meant only for the in-house guests. The Lalit also has an art gallery for lovers of art. Paintings and pictures displayed here by well known artists are for sale too. The lalit, New Delhi, is part of the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group whose motto is “Limitless Hospitality”.
